About the NRWCU

The Nordrhein-Westfalen Cricket Union e.V. is the body responsible for cricket organisation and development at all levels across the region of NRW in Germany.

In the course of its over ten year history, the NRWCU has helped to establish four new grounds in the region, produced national champion clubs and pioneered development work with youth and women’s cricket, producing Germany’s first U18 ‘county’ champions in 2012.

In 2013, the NRWCU has developed more competitiive competition formats in order to cater for the fast-growing demand for participation at all levels. With a new Super 40 Saturday ‘B’ league and the first ‘NRW PL’ for which the NRWCU attracted generous sponsorship, 2013 has seen more cricket played in the region than ever before.

With the importance attached to youth development in the region, the NRWCU established Germany’s first annual outdoor, hardball youth tournament (first held in Bonn in 2011) and with new plans in place for elite devlopment at senior level, the performance levels of the region should continue to go from strength to strength, with a bright and sustainable future.
