The NRWPL 2014 Masters Rounds final

On Sunday 28th September, in fine cricketing weather, the NRWPL Masters Rounds final 2014 was hosted in Bochum, NRW. With the hosts winning the toss and electing to bat, the match began at 12.30 pm.

Bochum CC and Dortmund CC after an exciting finish to the NRWPL 2014

Waqar and Abad Arkam opened the inning for Bochum CC with Rameez Israr and Shabaan leading the bowling attack for Dortmund CC.

The Dortmund opening bowlers managed to restrict Bochum CC to under 6 runs per over in the powerplay and took 3 very important wickets. After a further 3 quick wickets from Raouf Akbar Baloch and well disciplined bowling from Rismy Furkan and Vaseekaran Aritharan, the Bochum batsmen fought back with a blistering display from Umair (26 Runs) and Inder (33 runs) in last four overs, taking their team's score to 139 for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Dortmund began their chase with a 65 run stand in 8 overs by newcomer Ahsan Saeed (32 runs 3 fours 1 six) and the sharp little Lorenzo Shoaib Bader (32 runs 1 four 1 six) for no loss. After the dismissal of Ahsan, profi Raouf Akbar Baloch (24 runs 1 four 2 sixes) entered the fray and together with powerhouse Saif Hanjra (10 Runs 1 six) took the score to over 100 in 14 overs.
With Dortmund left needing 40 runs in 6 overs with 6 wickets in hand, Mudassar Razzaq (C) joined the big basher Qamar Navid at the crease but was effectively redundant 
as the quick-fire hitting from Qamar Navid (29 runs 1 four 4 sixes) single-handedly finished the game in 17.4 overs, reaching the target of 140 runs without further loss.
Despite the best efforts of Naeem Ali Khan and Kashif Haider who bowled exceptionally well for Bochum CC, Dortmund CC ran out winners by 6 wickets.
After the match, the Dortmund team expressed their appreciation to the match officials, the NRWCU and to Bochum CC for hosting the final. They went on to dedicate their 5th NRW title to team mentor, Ravi Navaratnam for all his support, guidance and inspiration over the years.
